Search Engine Optimization Basics

I wanted to share this video I found on YouTube.com with you. It's kind of a boring watch, but it has some good points if you're trying to make sure your website is Search Engine Optimized.

Some important things to note when designing your website are:

-Title tag is very important, make it as descriptive as possible.
-Saving your .html file names, make sure they are as short and descriptive as possible.
-Make sure your domain name describes your site to a certain point.
-Make sure your description meta tag describes each page in around 150 characters.
-Use h1tag for opening title of page and h2 tags for subtitles or a page footer.
-Make sure your code is free of errors, you can use http://www.w3.org/.
-Use alt tags to describe all pictures on your site.
-Use seobook for free to research keywords on how popular they are to add to your site.
-Make sure you use links to important keywords so search engines can see this.
-Make a sitemap.xml file. Google's Webmaster tools are great for this.
-Make a robot.txt file for your site, Google's Webmaster tools are great for this as well.
-Keep your java script in a separate .js file away from the rest of the code on your site.
-Try to get your site linked to other sites to increase your link popularity.

Those are just a few things. I know I left a few things out, but that's enough for you to get started now.
