Major ii V7 I Jazz lick with a b9 Tom Harrell played

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/aQT3c)
I heard Tom Harrell play this Jazz lick in the beginning of his trumpet solo on Scrapple From the Apple off his Moon Alley album. This lick doesn't necessarily have to be played over a ii V7 I, it can be played over a regular major chord as well. It's a very scale like Jazz lick so it's easy to play on trumpet.

Major ii V7 I Tom Harrell lick with a b9 in it - Jazz Lick 32

Here is a sound sample played on trumpet:

How to memorize this Jazz lick in 12 keys:

Like I said before, since this Jazz lick is very scale like, it lays very nicely on the trumpet. You can either think of the lick as a G bebop scale lick with a raised 4th, or a C major lick with a b9 (or raised tonic). I prefer to think of it as a C major lick with a b9 in it.

If you prefer memorizing the lick in major think of starting on the 5th of whatever key you're in, then play the major scale up to the 4th, then go down to the b9, up to the 3rd, and finally finish the scale out landing on the 3rd of the I chord.

If you prefer memorizing the lick thinking in dominant then just know that you'll start on the tonic of whatever dominant scale you're starting on, go up the scale to the b7, down to the #4, up a minor 3rd from that, then just finish out the dominant scale down landing on a chord tone of the I chord.

Feel free to embellish on the lick and make it your own.

Mat Jodrell trumpet solo at a Jam Session

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/efw74)
Mat Jodrell playing trumpet at a jam session.I never heard of this trumpet player until today, but Mat Jodrell sounds great at this jam session. Mat Jodrell takes a ride on the tune Four by Miles Davis. The tune Four is one of my favorite standard Jazz tunes. This jam session took place at Jazz de Medianoche at Vitoria Jazz Festival back in 2006.

Anyway, Mat Jodrell nails all the chord changes on Four and playing with a lot of energy on trumpet. I really enjoyed listening to this trumpet solo and I hope you do as well.

High Profits affiliate program pays a sign up bonus

(My Original Blog Post: http://www.signupandmakemoney.com/blog/2009/05/high-profits-affiliate-program-pays-a-sign-up-bonus/)
High Profits free affiliate program offers $20.00 sign up bonus.Join the High Profits affiliate program today and get a $20.00 sign up bonus for free. You know what they say, you can't beat free, at least that's what I always say. I signed up with this free affiliate company the other day and my affiliate account with High Profits was instantly approved. If you don't have a website to put in, just give High Profits your FaceBook or MySpace page.

After taking a quick look at what High Profits has to offer, I came to the conclusion that High Profits looks like a decent legit affiliate program. As far as High Profit's affiliate network is concerned, they really don't have too many programs to choose from. I only counted 9 in my back office. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just means you're a little bit limited on what you can promote with High Profits. The main types of websites that High Profits allows you to promote are all money making websites.

In my opinion, the biggest drawback I've noticed with High Profits is that they don't offer any cost per action commissions. The only way you can earn is by making sales. I always enjoy CPA affiliate sites much more because it is a lot easier to make money off of actions versus sales. This is just my humble opinion though.

One of my favorite things I like about High Profits is that they offer a 2nd tier affiliate program. This means you can refer other free affiliates and make a percentage of their affiliate commissions for life. High Profits will actually give you a 5% commission off all the sales made by the webmasters you refer.

You have to earn at least $100.00 with High Profits before you can cash out. One other drawback I've noticed about High Profits is that they charge a fee of $5.00 to receive payment through Paypal. This was the cheapest fee too. To do a bank wire is like $20.00 or something like that.

Take a look at some more free affiliate sites that pay a sign up bonus and take advantage of as much free money as you possibly can.

Sean Jones takes a trumpet solo on I'll Remember April

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/xAuOV)
I wanted to share this live Jazz trumpet solo of Sean Jones on the tune I'll Remember April. This performance took place at Gregory's Jazz Club back in 2008. I like the name of that Jazz Club because my name is Gregory as well. Anyway, this trumpet solo of Sean Jones is very good. Sean Jones nails all the chord changes on I'll Remember April. I hope you enjoy this Jazz video as much as I did.

A ii V7 I Jazz lick I heard Tom Harrell play

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/9pHms)
I heard Tom Harrell play this ii V7 I Jazz lick. I can't remember what album it was off of though. This ii V7 I Jazz lick starts off using a minor arpeggio starting on the 7th then finishes off with a b9 ending on the 3rd of the I chord.

A ii V7 I Jazz Lick I heard Tom Harrell play on trumpet.

Here is a sound sample played on trumpet:

How to memorize this ii V7 I Jazz lick in 12 keys:

First you need to note that this ii V7 I Jazz lick starts on the b7th of the ii chord and goes up and down the minor arpeggio. Once it hits the b7th again the lick goes up a Major 3rd, then you start thinking in Major for the rest of the Jazz lick except for the nice sounding b9th towards the end of the lick. Finally you'll end on the 3rd of the I chord. That's the easiest way I've found to memorizing this Jazz lick in 12 keys.

You can end this Jazz lick in different variations. I give some examples in the above video. Be creative and come up with some of your own interpretations of this Jazz lick.

Awesome Clifford Brown trumpet solo on Confirmation

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/9yzur)
Clifford Brown playing the trumpet.Clifford Brown takes a great trumpet solo on the tune Confirmation. I really wanted to share this Jazz trumpet solo with you. Clifford Brown is known for using a hard tongue in his Jazz solos.  Clifford Brown also uses a lot of quick flips or turnarounds that he puts in pretty much everyone of his trumpet solos. Notice how Clifford Brown nails all the ii V7 I chords in Confirmation. This Clifford Brown trumpet solo is from his album entitled: The Complete Blue Note & Pacific Jazz Recordings. I believe Confirmation is on the last CD in this set. There are 4 CDs included with this purchase.

Become a free affiliate with Cash Burners and get a sign up bonus

(My Original Blog Post: http://www.signupandmakemoney.com/blog/2009/05/become-a-free-affiliate-with-cash-burners-and-get-a-sign-up-bonus/)
Cash Burners pays a $50.00 sign up bonus and is a free affiliate program to join.Cash Burners is a free affiliate site to take advantage of. Cash Burners will actually pay you a $50.00 sign up bonus if you join as an affiliate. You can't beat a free affiliate membership, then on top of that a free $50.00 sign up bonus just for registering.

I have to admit that I am just a little bit embarrassed about the products Cash Burners promotes. Not a typical choice of products to be promoting, but since Cash Burners pays out 40% to 50% commissions on all sales generated. That's a pretty good return on a free investment, don't you think so? I also wanted to let you know that you can refer other free affiliates to Cash Burner and make a 10% commission off of your sub affiliate sales up to 2 levels deep.

You may be thinking to yourself, what kind of products does Cash Burners promote?

I just signed up with Cash Burners and was in my back office looking for affiliate banners to promote them with. Let's just say there were some pretty "adult orientated" graphical affiliate banners. Cash Burners products are supplements for sexual intimacy. This also includes sex toys, adult products, and diet supplements. I'm sure that Cash Burner's products are high quality, but they sure aren't the easiest products to advertise. That is probably why Cash Burner relies so heavily on their affiliates to get their products out there. This is why we (the affiliates) get to enjoy the $50.00 free sign up bonus from Cash Burners.

While I scoped out Cash Burner's back office, I noticed that they offer some free affiliate marketing tips on how to promote Cash Burners. You can use these websites and tips to not only promote your Cash Burner affiliate link, but to promote whatever else you're working on as well.

Something else I like about Cash Burners is that they accept members Worldwide. Anybody, from any Country, can join Cash Burners as an affiliate and promote their products. After looking at Cash Burner's FAQ page I noticed that Cash Burners has many affiliates that earn over $10,000 a week. I'm pretty skeptical about that though. I didn't see enough products in my back office to see that kind of potential income, you never know though.

I'm going to have to throw in another negative. I hate doing this, but I noticed on Cash Burner's FAQ page that you have to earn a minimum of $200.00 in order to cash out on your first payment. Why not $100.00? Why $200.00? Beats me.

Descending major triad lick I heard Freddie Hubbard play

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/zUW5E)
This descending major triad Jazz lick is really easy to learn because it just goes down the major scale in triads based off the major scale you're playing in. I heard Freddie Hubbard play this Jazz lick off his Bolivia album on the tune entitled Giant Steps.

Descending major triad lick I heard Freddie Hubbard play.

Here is a sound sample played on trumpet:

How to memorize this Jazz triad pattern in 12 keys:

This Jazz triad lick simply starts on the 2nd scale degree of whatever key you're in, then goes down each scale degree in the current key. You're obviously not required to start on the second scale degree for this pattern. Feel free to start on any scale degree to accomplish this lick in any variation.

The best way I found to memorize this Jazz lick is to just start on a scale degree in the current key and think in that key as I descend down the major scale of that key. It takes practice working on the lick in 12 keys before you'll feel comfortable performing the lick in any key.

Get a commission on the next cell phone you buy with TMI Wireless

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/RsI1M)
TMI Wireless - The Internet Wireless Superstore.Let's face it, cell phones are pretty much a part of everyday life these days. Most people are switching to owning cell phones only, versus regular land line home phones. Why? Because cell phones have so much more functionality and can be taken with you where ever you go. Most of us have a cell phone service plan with one of the major cell phone providers (At&t, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, Nextel, T-Mobile). Did you know you can receive a commission when you buy your next cell phone if you are a free affiliate with TMI Wireless?

TMI Wireless is an excellent online wireless cell phone provider that I bought my last cell phone with. I received my phone through FedEx within only 2 days after purchasing it online. I was even able to call a representative of TMI Wireless to make sure my cell phone plan was going to be updated properly. I did this using my own TMI Wireless affiliate link they gave me and I later received a kick back from the purchase of my own personal cell phone.

This is the whole point, cell phones aren't going away, almost everybody you know has one. Your friends and family areThe TMI Wireless free business opportunity. going to need to update their cell phone plans or get a new cell phone with their current plan. You might as well be the one to refer them to your free TMI Wireless affiliate site when they are ready to update their cell phone plans. You will make a commission every time they buy a new cell phone ($50.00 per cell phone sale). If you feel bad about doing this, you could give your friends and family a part of your commission if they buy from your affiliate link. Doing this will also help keep your friends and family as regular returning customers.

Maybe some of your inner network (friends and family) might not be interested in buying a cell phone through TMI Wireless, but they may be interested in making some extra money on the side. Once again, the TMI Wireless affiliate program can help make this possible. You can refer other free affiliates (up to 1 level or tier deep, too bad it's not more) and make a $10.00 commission off all their personal sales. This just another way to help build leverage in your life for free.

You really have nothing to lose. Sign up for your free affiliate account with TMI Wireless and at least get a commission on the next cell phone you upgrade or buy. That's why I love free affiliate sites, there are no monthly dues to commit to!

A ii V7 I lick that repeats a minor pattern down a half step

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/1AWpw)
Here is a pretty easy ii V7 I Jazz lick to learn. A trombone player I used to work with showed this lick to me.  This lick is basically a minor pattern that repeats itself going down a half step to land on a chord tone of the I chord.

ii V7 I lick that is a minor pattern repeated down a half step.

Here is a sound sample played on trumpet:

How to memorize this ii V7 I lick in 12 keys:

Start off by learning the minor pattern by itself first by going down in half steps all the way through the 12 keys, then apply it to a ii V7 I chord progression. This is the minor pattern: 5 b7 5 3 2 1. In the above example, you start on the 5th of the ii chord, play the minor pattern, then play it again down a half step, then finally land on the tonic of the I chord.

This minor pattern is useful by itself as well. Mess around with the pattern to find out how it'll fit into your Jazz improvisation.

Arturo Sandoval and Dizzy Gillespie trade solos live

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/XlCTm)
I don't know the name of the tune because the video is in a foreign language as far as descriptions go. What I do know is that Arturo Sandoval and Dizzy Gillespie both sound great on this live Jazz trumpet video. Arturo Sandoval plays some really fast licks and a high note at the end of the first tune. Then Arturo starts playing piccolo trumpet out of all things, Arturo sounds good though, then he finally finished on yet another trumpet high note.

Paid Click Cash and Cash Blinks both offer a 50 cent sign up bonus

(My Original Blog Post: http://www.signupandmakemoney.com/blog/2009/05/paid-click-cash-and-cash-blinks-both-offer-a-50-cent-sign-up-bonus/)
Both Paid Click Cash and Cash Blinks are offering a free 50 cent sign up bonus for joining. Both of these sign up bonus sites look relatively new. If you're looking for "Get Paid To" sites that are just starting off, Paid Click Cash and Cash Blinks are a good place to start. Both of the money making sites are free to join so leave your money in your pockets.

paid-click-cashPaid Click Cash offers ways to earn money like getting paid to click, paid to sign up on offers or other websites, taking surveys, and reading e-mail. You can also earn from your referrals up to 5 levels deep. You can also purchase cheap advertising from Paid Click Cash since they are a new site with not too many members just yet.

One thing I don't like about Paid Click Cash is that it may take up to 30 days for you to get paid. I don't know why it could ever take that long to pay a member. I prefer sign up bonus companies that pay their members within a few days of requesting payment. Paid Click Cash isn't very descriptive in their terms of when you can cash out and the earning potential is very minimal. You are looking at earning $0.001 of a cent for almost every click. It will take forever before you will earn a dollar, but at least Paid Click Cash has a legit payment to advertising cost ratio.

make-moneyCash Blinks offers ways to earn money like getting paid to click, reading ads, signing up on offers, reading e-mails, and an option to upgrade to earn more money from your efforts. Cash Blinks is also a lot more descriptive in what you get for referring others and when you can cash out. All you have to do is earn a dollar in order to cash out with Cash Blinks. You'll earn 5% off your referral's earnings and 5% off your referral's first level referrals. So you basically earn up to two levels deep from your down lines. Cash Blinks accepts members from all Countries.

You can also purchase cheap advertising with Cash Blinks since they are a fairly new online company. Currently you can get 1,000 visitors to your site for only $3.00. If you affiliate site is about making money online, then the members of Cash Blinks are already targeted towards your niche and you don't have to pay the extra money for targeted visitors.

After checking Cash Blink's terms, I noticed that they will delete your account earnings if you are inactive for over 60 days. I don't like that one bit, that's not fair to the member at all. Even though Cash Blink offers cheap advertising, they only have a little over 250 members at the moment. I think Cash Blinks is charging too much for advertising and should wait until they have more members before charging $3.00 per 1,000 visits.

Take a look at more Get Paid To sites that pay a sign up bonus and keep earning money online for free.

A pentatonic lick that goes outside the key

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/Cjk4A)
Here is a cool sounding pentatonic pattern I got from a really good trombone player I used to work with. This pentatonic lick starts off with a minor pentatonic scale, then you go down a Major third, outside the key and do another minor pentatonic scale. You can play whatever pattern or notes that you want to, the example is only to give you an idea of what you can do. This lick fits really well over modal tunes like So What.

pentatonic-jazz-lick-27

Here is a sound sample played on trumpet:

How to learn this pentatonic lick in 12 keys:

You aren't really learning a set pattern with this lick. You want to think in minor pentatonic, then go down a Major third and play in that minor pentatonic. In the above example you start off in E minor pentatonic, then you go down a Major 3rd to C minor pentatonic, finally, you go back to E minor pentatonic.

The best way I found to learn this lick is to just mess around with it in all the keys. Some keys will be stronger than others, but that's OK. Once you feel comfortable enough, start using the Jazz lick in your solos either live or with Aebersolds and Band in a Box.

The Ez2x2 business opportunity explained

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/bbKA0)
ez2x2What is Ez2x2 anyway? I've been hearing a lot of hype about Ez2x2 lately. A lot things that make Ez2x2 sound like the greatest business opportunity ever created. A friend I know introduced Ez2x2 to me. When she first introduced Ez2x2 I wasn't interested. I feel like I've joined enough business opportunities in my time to know my plate is pretty full. Anyway, my friend didn't give up and I am now a member. I wanted to go through all the benefits of joining Ez2x2.

I wanted to start off by sharing this great video about Ez2x2 I've been seeing a lot of on the web:

  • You'll get the ability to receive spillover from the 2x2 matrix.

  • Access to a lot of products like E-books, application software, etc..

  • Free advertising resources - free banner impressions, solo ads, and a lot of free visitors.

  • How to videos and free pro memberships at a number of traffic sites.

  • Use the Ez2x2 down line builder to promote other business opportunities to your down lines.

Arturo Sandoval trumpet cadenza on A Night in Tunisia

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/8msnD)
arturo-sandovalArturo Sandoval takes a great trumpet solo cadenza on A Night in Tunisia from his album The Best of Arturo Sandoval. I cut out the best part of this recording. Arturo Sandoval starts the solo off with a trumpet cadenza with some really fast trumpet licks. Then Arturo Sandoval changes the whole mood and switches to some nice blues licks. And finally, the band comes back in and Arturo Sandoval continues to play some really nice licks ending on a high note.

Extreme Safelist pays a $10.00 sign up bonus

(My Original Blog Post: http://www.signupandmakemoney.com/blog/2009/05/extreme-safelist-pays-a-1000-sign-up-bonus/)
extreme-safelistExtreme Safelist is currently giving all new members that sign up a free $10.00 sign up bonus for joining. The only downfall to the sign up bonus is that it isn't automatic and it's only for a limited time (so hurry up and get the bonus), you have to contact the Extreme Safelist support team in order to receive the sign up bonus.

I've been a member of Extreme Safelist for awhile now and when I signed up they weren't offering a sign up bonus. I stayed a member and have received free traffic from Extreme Safelist ever since.

I would like to quickly go over the benefits of joining Extreme Safelist:

  • You can sign up for free and take advantage of the $10.00 sign up bonus.

  • Extreme Safelist has over 700 members to advertise to.

  • You'll get 5,000 free credits for joining (1 credit equals 1 person that will get your e-mail)

  • You get 1,000 free credits a month just for staying active as a member with Extreme Safelist.

  • You get 25 credits every time you view an ad.

  • 500 credits for everyone you refer to Extreme Safelist.

  • You'll also get free credits if someone you refer upgrades their account.

  • If someone you refer purchases advertising, you'll get a 25% profit off of it.

There are a few drawbacks though. Obviously upgraded members can earn a lot more for less, but I'm a firm believer in not paying for advertising unless you really need to get your product or services out there. As with any Safelist, you need to be aware that you will receive a lot of e-mails once you're a member. Make sure you set up a separate e-mail account with Gmail just for the Safelists you join. Another drawback of Extreme Safelist is that as a free member you can only send out one credit based e-mail a day, only send an e-mail to 300 members a day, and you have to earn at least $25.00 before you can cash out. So keep those things in mind before you join.

Take a look at my other free advertising sites that pay sign up bonuses. You can make over $600 if you sign up on all of them.

A diminished lick with some rhythm

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/B58ay)
I got this rhythmic diminished lick listening to a good trombone player friend of mine. It's a real easy diminished lick to incorporate into your improvised Jazz solos. You don't have to play this diminished pattern how it is written, be creative and come up with your own variation of the lick.

diminished-jazz-lick-26

Here is a sound sample played on trumpet:

How to memorize this diminished lick in 12 keys:

Since this is a diminished lick you'll only need to learn the lick in 3 keys depending on which note you start on. As you can see, this diminished lick is just going down in half steps a minor 3rd apart, but it skips around a little bit. The stacked minor 3rds in the above example are C, Eb, F#, and A. The easiest way to memorize this diminished lick then is to think in stacked minor 3rds throughout the whole lick knowing that you are just going down a couple half steps between each minor third.

Green Smoke affiliate program offers free sign up bonus

(My Original Blog Post: http://www.signupandmakemoney.com/blog/2009/05/green-smoke-affiliate-program-offers-free-sign-up-bonus/)
green-smoke-opportunityBecome a sales representative for Green Smoke and promote their Electronic Cigarette. The best part about this affiliate opportunity is that not only is Green Smoke's affiliate program 100% free to join, they will actually pay you $25.00 just for signing up with their free affiliate program.

Another important thing to mention if you join the Green Smoke affiliate program is that you will be helping smokers stay healthy by keeping them away from harmful tar, carcinogens, and other cancer causing chemicals. You'll also make money while helping the environment with less air pollutants and less cigarette butts will be thrown on the ground. I'm not a big tree hugger, but I think helping some one's health can be a very good thing to do.

One thing that I don't like about Green Smoke's affiliate program is that you only make money when you make a sale, versus making money per lead, which I like a lot more! None the less, the Green Smoke affiliate program is free to join so you really have nothing to lose by signing up. The Green Smoke affiliate program also allows you to make money by referring other free affiliates, 20% up to 2 tiers. You'll get your first affiliate commission once you earn over $100.00 in sales. Not too bad since you get $25.00 free to start off with.

I would like to personally thank Linda Smart for referring this sign up bonus site to Sign Up and Make Money. For anybody that refers a sign up bonus site that is not already listed on the sign up bonus list, I will add that person's affiliate link to the sign up bonus list, do a blog post on the sign up bonus site with the referrer affiliate link, notify my mailing list, and recognize the person that referred the sign up bonus site.

If you like free affiliate programs, check out my other free affiliate programs that pay you to sign up with them. Keep up the good work of making money online for free.

Ryan Kisor trumpet solo on Cherokee

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/atjDZ)
ryan-kisor-trumpetI wanted to share a really fast Jazz trumpet solo of Ryan Kisor on the tune Cherokee from his album entitled Kisor. It's a really good CD, definitely take a look at it. I don't know what tempo Ryan Kisor took Cherokee at though.

Ryan Kisor starts Cherokee off soloing right away, no head is played on this recording. There are a lot of good Jazz licks to take advantage of from this recording. Ryan Kisor does this alternate fingering Jazz lick going down a scale one note at a time. The alternate fingering Jazz lick happens so fast that it is hard to write down at first though. I hope you enjoy this Jazz trumpet solo.

Roy Eldridge takes a very energetic live trumpet solo

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/epxZV)
roy-eldridgeI wanted to share a very energetic trumpet solo Roy Eldridge (also known as "Little Jazz") took live on stage at Carnegie Hall. Roy Eldridge took the last solo on a tune called The Opener which Charlie Parker started with the first solo. If you're interested in the CD, it's called Jazz at the Philharmonic, 1949.

I love this Jazz trumpet solo because Roy Eldridge plays it with so much energy. All the other rides were good to, but Roy Eldridge's solo just had so much more energy and the trumpet solo didn't have too many notes either. Just a whole lot of energy. Roy Eldridge is known for his edgy trumpet playing, which I like.
